History

In February 1917, the world was in turmoil, and in Finland the idea of independence began to intensify. At that time, 60 shoemakers gathered in Helsinki to consider the possibility of setting up an import and wholesale company serving the footwear industry. Their goal was to ease the material shortage common for the time, thus safeguarding the preservation of the ancient craft of shoemaking. The meeting led to the establishment of the footwear traders' cooperative Jalkineliikkeenharjoittajain osuusliike, now known as Nahkakunta. In December of the same year, Finland became independent.

Today, Nahkakunta is the leading wholesaler of the footwear and shoemaker industry in Finland. As our customer, you will be offered the widest range of products in the best price/quality ratio.
